Two protests are set to converge on downtown Vancouver Wednesday afternoon. The cross-country 1 Million March for Children protest will be gathering at 1pm at 969 Robson Street. The group will begin marching at 1:15pm.

Similar protests have been taking place across the country in many major cities.

According to their website, the group says they are “advocating for the elimination of the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) curriculum, pronouns, gender ideology and mixed bathrooms in schools”.

“Together, we stand united to safeguard the well-being and innocence of our children.”

The 1 Million March for Children group also asks students to participate in a nationwide school walkout today.

In response to the anti-SOGI protest, a counter protest is being held at the Vancouver Art Gallery beginning at 1pm.

“A peaceful counter anti-trans protest will happen at the same time, at the Vancouver Art Gallery, and we are encouraging everyone to attend,” reads the Counter Anti-Trans Protest Facebook event page.
