A 15-year-old girl has tragically died after falling into a BC waterfall over the weekend. On Sunday, July 16th at 6pm, Revelstoke RCMP responded to a report of a 15-year-old female who had lost her footing on slippery rocks and fallen into Akolkolex Falls.
Police say her stepfather dove into the water in an attempt to save her.

Witnesses did not see either one of them resurface, but with the help of a Search and Rescue helicopter, the stepfather was located. He was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“Tragically, on July 17th, the female was located deceased by RCMP and Search and Rescue personnel,” says Cpl. James Grandy.
The BC Coroners Service has taken over the investigation.
