The 19-year-old firefighter who died fighting a wildfire outside of Revelstoke has been identified by her brother.
Devyn Gale’s has been identified as the firefighter who lost her life Thursday afternoon. Her brother confirmed the tragic news in an Instagram post.

“Yesterday, while working a fire, my sister Devyn was struck by a tree and killed,” wrote Nolan Gale in an Instagram post Friday.
“Devyn was an amazing sister. She was so kind and thoughtful.”

“I’m so grateful to have grown up beside her. I’m grateful for everything she’s done for me and others, completely out of kindness with no expectation for reciprocation,” added her brother.
Federal Minister of Emergency Preparedness, Bill Blair, confirmed the news on Twitter.
“This is a tragic reminder of the risks our firefighters are facing, and I offer my deepest condolences to her family and the entire firefighting community as they mourn her loss.”
The BC Coroners Service, RCMP, and WorkSafeBC are all conducting conducting an investigation into her tragic death.
