20-year-old man stabbed while trying to stop car theft in Surrey’s Newton area

A 20-year-old was transported to hospital after being stabbed in Surrey’s Newton area.

At 10:07am this morning, Surrey RCMP responded to the report of an assault with a weapon in the 12900-block of 68 Avenue. When police arrived on scene, they found a 20-year-old man suffering from apparent stab wounds.

The investigation so far indicates that an “altercation ensued when the victim interrupted a theft from vehicle”.

Police confirm that a suspect was taken into custody.

Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit is on scene and has assumed conduct of the investigation.
