28-year-old tourist visiting from New Zealand stabbed by stranger in downtown Vancouver

A 28-year-old man visiting from New Zealand was injured in an unprovoked stabbing in downtown Vancouver.

Police say the incident occurred last night in the Granville Entertainment District.

The victim was allegedly stabbed from behind by a man not known to him on the corner of Nelson and Granville just before 8pm.

“He took himself to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries,” says police.

“From what we know so far, this attack appears to be completely random and unprovoked,” says Constable Tania Visintin.

“Investigators are looking for a man about 5’5” tall, with a medium complexion. He was wearing a white t-shirt, dark jeans, and a blue baseball cap.”

The VPD say no one has been arrested yet and the investigation is ongoing.
