An atmospheric river is set to slam Metro Vancouver with heavy rain beginning Monday.
Environment Canada says “a potent and impactful storm (an atmospheric river) will make landfall on Monday bringing areas of heavy rain as it moves across southern BC.”
The weather agency warns that “very heavy rainfall” and” snow at higher elevations” will increase the risk of flooding and landslides.
Fortunately, this upcoming storm will not be as strong as the November 2021 atmospheric river that slammed the region.
Environment Canada has also issued a second weather warning for today that states “elevated ocean water levels are also expected, exceeding high astronomical tide”
“Low barometric pressure will combine with a period of high astronomical tide to produce elevated water levels today. Minor coastal flooding is possible along exposed shorelines.”
Elevated water levels will persist until Tuesday.
