The stakes just got a little higher.
The Premiers of BC and Alberta have agreed to a bet as the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers are set to clash in the second round of the NHL playoffs.
The Canucks secured a dramatic victory over the Nashville Predators Friday night to win their first round series in six games.
Waiting for them was the Edmonton Oilers and Alberta Premier Danielle Smith challenged BC Premier David Eby after Vancouver advanced.
Smith suggested the loser has to deliver a statement in their own legislature written by the winner while wearing the other team’s jersey.

David Eby accepted the bet and even mentioned the Calgary Flames in his response.
“In this vast democracy called Canada, we must often set aside our differences to come together. But over the coming weeks, British Columbians & Edmontonians will have to set aside what we have in common (hating the Calgary Flames) for hockey glory,” said Eby in a social media post.
Canucks have home ice advantage and the series is expected to start Tuesday night. Vancouver went 4-0 against Edmonton in the regular season, with three of those wins coming early in the season before the Oilers turned around their season.
