A BC Ferries passenger was rescued by crews Wednesday morning after going overboard near the Tsawwassen terminal.

According to BC Ferries, the incident occurred on the 7:45am sailing from Duke Point (Nanaimo) to Tsawwassen (Vancouver).

“The individual was brought ashore and is now receiving care from Emergency Health Services,” said BC Ferries on their website.

As a result of the incident, the 10:15am sailing departing Tsawassen, and the 12:45pm sailing departing Duke Point (Nanaimo) were cancelled.

The condition of the passenger remains unclear at this time.

“If you have a booking on one of these cancelled sailings, you will hear from our Customer Service Centre to let you know if we can fit you on an alternate sailing later today, or if your booking must be cancelled. In the case of a cancellation, we will refund your fees and/or fares,” said BC Ferries.
