While Metro Vancouver may see some snow early next week, several BC highways could see “significant snowfall” this weekend.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement that effects the Coquihalla Highway (Hope to Merritt), Highway 3 (Hope to Princeton via Allison Pass), Highway 3 (Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass), Trans-Canada Highway (Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass) and Yellowhead Highway (Tete Jaune Cache to the Alberta border).

“A large low pressure system will bring significant snowfall to B.C. mountains beginning on Saturday. As the low intensifies on Sunday, snowfall accumulation will rapidly increase across the highway passes,” says Environment Canada.
“Snow levels will also lower to near valley bottom in the wake of the cold front associated with this low. Local blowing snow is possible in wind-prone areas.”
The weather agency says the storm will begin on Saturday, intensify throughout Sunday, and taper off on Monday.
