Police have confirmed a bomb threat was made against the New Westminster courthouse last week on January 7th, forcing residents and businesses in the area to evacuate.
The New Westminster Police Department was made aware of the threat around 10:30am on Tuesday, January 7th.
“Officers arrived on scene and worked to secure the area,” said the department in a release. “Residents and businesses directly next to the courthouse were asked to leave out of an abundance of caution.”
Numerous public safety partners helped officers handle the situation until it was deemed safe to return.
