Police investigating “brazen daytime shooting” in Coquitlam

Police are investigating a “brazen daytime shooting” that occurred in Coquitlam Thursday afternoon just before 3pm.

Coquitlam RCMP responded to a shooting in progress in the area of Johnson Street and Glen Drive in Coquitlam. Police say they received reports that “multiple individuals had shot at a vehicle” and were pointing a firearm.

Police located bullet holes and casings in the area. No injuries have been reported and police were able to locate two suspects.

“We are extremely lucky that no one was injured during this brazen day-time shooting in a very populated area,” said Superintendent Keith Bramhill, Officer in Charge of Coquitlam RCMP.

“As we are in the initial stages of the investigation, we are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or saw a man pointing a firearm in the area of Johnson Street and Glen Drive to contact Police.”

Investigators are now seeking video footage of the area between 2:30pm and 3:30pm. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and quote file number 2024-324.
