BREAKING NEWS: Man shot dead at Surrey Sikh temple (VIDEO)

BREAKING NEWS: A man has been shot and killed outside a Surrey Sikh temple Sunday evening.

At approximately 8:27 pm, Surrey RCMP were called to a report of a shooting in the parking lot outside of Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in the 7000 block of 120th Street. When police arrived on scene, they found an adult male inside a vehicle suffering from apparent gun shot wounds and provided medical assistance until Emergency Health Services arrived on scene.

Despite their best efforts, the man died of his injuries at the scene.

Photos and videos uploaded to social media platforms show a heavy police presence outside the temple.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is currently on scene speaking with witnesses and and canvassing for any video and physical evidence. Investigators are speaking with witnesses to get descriptions of the suspects.

Early reports say that the victim shot and killed was the temple’s President Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

“Surrey RCMP is aware of social media posts that are speculating on the identity of the victim, but are not in a position to confirm the victim’s identity at this very early time,” says Sgt. Tyner Gillies

Police say any “possible motives for the shooting are not yet known”.
