Burnaby RCMP are searching for a missing 11-year-old boy who is believed to be with a “caretaker”.
On September 26th, police received a request for a well-being check for 11-year-old Kai Pavlovic. After speaking with Kai’s family members, investigators have reason to believe Kai is “staying with a caretaker who is unknown to police”.
Despite various investigational avenues, Kai’s whereabouts remain unknown.
“Our initial priority was to make people aware Kai was missing and to share his picture with the public,” said Media Relations Officer Cpl. Laura Hirst.
“Our investigators are making every effort to find Kai, and we are asking for the public’s help as part of those ongoing efforts. If someone knows where Kai is, or is currently looking after him, we are asking them to contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 so we can confirm his safety.”
Kai stands 5’0” tall with a thin build and has brown hair.

Police also addressed questions about why an Amber Alert was not issued.
“Amber Alerts are activated in cases where an abduction has been confirmed and there is believed to be imminent danger to the child,” said Burnaby RCMP. “At this point in the investigation, the information does not meet the criteria for issuing an Amber Alert.”
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Kai Pavlovic is urged to contact their local police, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
