It’s a sign that summer is near.
The three countries participating in the 2024 Honda Celebration of Light fireworks have been announced.
The 2024 participating countries are Portugal (Saturday, July 20), Malaysia (Wednesday, July 24), and the United Kingdom (Saturday, July 27).
“The dazzling display of fireworks that is synonymous with the Honda Celebration of Light can’t come soon enough!” said Michael McKnight, Co-Chair of the Vancouver Fireworks Festival Society. “We are fortunate to be involved in hosting such a monumental tradition and encourage Canadians to once again treat this as an opportunity to come out and celebrate.”
The BC government also shared their excitement ahead of this year’s event.
“We are thrilled to once again have this spectacular festival and fireworks extravaganza in Vancouver! This hugely popular event draws visitors worldwide and is a prime example of the world-class entertainment B.C. has to offer,” said Lana Popham, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport.
“The Province is proud to support Honda Celebration of Light. Events like this bolster local businesses, generate jobs, and create cherished memories for all participants. We can’t wait to welcome people from all over the world again and give them and British Columbians a show they’ll never forget!”

Representing Portugal is Macedos Pirotecnia. The pyrotechnic activity in the family began in 1934 by Joaquim da Silva Macedo, who passed on all his knowledge, techniques and methods to his son and grandchildren. They now manage the company and have adapted modern methods and expanded nationally and internationally to pyrotechnics markets and competitions representing their country and proud history.
On the second night of the festival, Team Pyro Tact will light up the skies for Malaysia. Their Story began with a humble spark of curiosity and a passion for pyrotechnics that ignited their dreams. Over time, their skills caught the attention of their nation, leading them to represent their country in prestigious fireworks competitions, and major events in their country and in Asia.
Wrapping up the 2024 festival is Team Pyrotex Fireworx. Known for originality and pure emotion within its shows, Pyrotex uses state-of-the-art technology and software to design traditional and pyromusical firework displays. With the combination of unique design knowledge and advanced technical ability in hand, their team pushes the boundaries to create a masterpiece in the sky!

The fireworks will begin from barges located in English Bay each night starting at 10pm. Each team has their own unique soundtrack to compliment the fireworks that can be heard on CFMI Rock 101.

The 2024 festival will once again feature the Red Bull Air Show happening each night at 7:40pm. For the first time ever, organizers are introducing an electric drone show! Beginning at approximately 9:50pm each night, attendees can watch a dazzling, choreographed drone display light up the skies over English Bay!

Guests looking for a more comfortable viewing experience can purchase tickets for one of the ticketed viewing locations at English Bay – Scotiabank Lounge, Inukshuk Point and the Concord Pacific Grandstand. Pre-sale tickets are now on sale and tickets go on sale to the public on Thursday, May 23rd at 9am.
Originally named the “Symphony of Fire”, the Honda Celebration of Light is recognized as the longest-running offshore fireworks competition in the world.
