Police have once again caught illegal ride-hailing operators in Richmond at the city’s busy Bridgeport Station.

Transit Police’s Targeted Mobile Enforcement Team worked together with Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) to conduct an operation targeting illegal ride-hailing services.

In addition to not having a license to operate such a service, one driver did not have valid driver’s license and was driving with improper tires.

Police also mention that another driver pulled over in the sting operation as a convicted sex offender.

“Many transit riders utilize taxi and ride share from the station to get to their final destination,” say police.

Drivers of an illegal ride-hailing company can receive daily fines of up to $5,000 per day of operation.
