A homeowner reported missing following a mudslide in Coquitlam over the weekend has been found deceased.
In a release Monday morning, Coquitlam RCMP said a 57-year-old woman was located deceased.
“This is a deeply tragic outcome and our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends,” said Cpl. Alexa Hodgins, Media Relations Officer of the Coquitlam RCMP. “We would like to thank Canada Task Force 1 – Urban Search and Rescue and Coquitlam Fire and Rescue for their search efforts and locating the victim.”
Canada Task Force 1 – Urban Search and Rescue and Coquitlam Fire and Rescue located the resident Sunday evening.
The mudslide occurred on Quarry Road between Calgary Drive and MacIntrye Road as an atmospheric river continued to batter the region. Many residents on the other side of the slide were told to shelter in place as crews continued to search for the missing homeowner.

Quarry Road between Calgary Drive and MacIntyre Road in Coquitlam remains closed at this time and first responders continue to communicate with residents “who remain on the other side of the slide”.
