A driver was shot at “numerous times” while travelling along a busy New Westminster street Wednesday afternoon.
The New Westminster Police Department say they received a call around 12:30pm from a driver who said someone had “discharged a firearm at his vehicle multiple times”.
“The driver shared that after he crossed into New Westminster over the Patullo Bridge he proceeded onto McBride Boulevard in the 400 block, at which time, a driver of a black, two door Infiniti shouted at him before pointing a black handgun and shooting numerous times, resulting in a broken passenger side window,” said police.

Police have clarified that the weapon pulled out may have been a pellet gun. Investigators are seeking to identify the suspect to make this determination.
“Using a weapon against another driver in traffic is reaching the heights of irresponsible and reckless behaviour,” stated Sergeant Andrew Leaver. “You’re exposing other drivers and families to grave injury or worse. We’re now asking the public to help us in our investigation by passing along any relevant dash-cam footage.”
Anyone with dash cam footage from October 25th between 12:15pm and 12:45pm in the Patullo Bridge/McBride Boulevard area is asked to call 604-525-5411 and refer to file #23-18029.
