Abbotsford Tulip Festival 2024

Canada’s largest tulip festival is now open for the 2024 season.

The Abbotsford Tulip Festival, put on by Lakeland Flowers, opened on Saturday, April 6th.

This year’s event features 35 acres of tulips and field flowers of which 28 acres will feature over 100 varieties of tulips, creating a dazzling display of colour.

“We were so grateful to meet the thousands of people who came to our farm last season. Connecting with visitors is my favourite part of the festival,” says Nick Warmerdam, farmer and owner of Lakeland Flowers.

“Every year we improve the visitor experience and this year we added more photo opps, tulips, and specialty varieties. From the end of May and on, our guests can expect to see more blooms right until early September.”

Highlights include walking trails, specialty varietals that have been imported from Holland and a legacy tulip named after Peter Warmerdam, Nick’s father.

Don’t forget to bring your camera as there will be a number of photo ops, including baby grand pianos, canoes, giant klompen (Dutch word for wooden shoes that visitors can sit in), bicycles, swings and raised viewing platforms. Visitors can also enjoy live music and delicious bites from local food trucks.
