Diwali Fest 2024

Celebrate the triumph of light over darkness with a series of events during Diwali Fest this October.

Each year, millions across the world celebrate Diwali, which translates to “row of lights”. The Hindu festival of lights, which falls on October 31 this year, symbolizes the spiritual “victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance”.

The theme for this year’s festival is “An Ode to Nature”. Artists will be paying tribute to the natural world through their music and dance performances throughout this year’s events.

“Many customs and rituals associated with the festival include plants, reinforcing the festival’s synergy with the natural world,” says Kriti Dewan, Creative Director of the Diwali Celebration Society.

For 2024, diverse and colourful events are being held in Coquitlam, Surrey and downtown Vancouver.

This year’s festivities kick off on October 18 at Town Center Park Community Center in Coquitlam. Attendees are invited to come experience a joyful evening of art, music and dance with the entire community from 6pm to 8pm.
