Hats Off Day Burnaby 2024
One of Metro Vancouver’s most popular street festivals is returning this June. Burnaby’s biggest annual street festival, Hats Off Day, attracts over 50,000 attendees every year.
The festival was named by the event founders to pay tribute to the community. It is said to be a day when the Heights businesses take their “hats off” to their community as a gesture of respect.
This year’s event will be held on Saturday, June 1st from 9:30am to 4pm.
Festival activities will take place along a 2 km stretch of Hastings Street, which includes an abundance of live music (hosted by local merchants), roving entertainers, and a delicious lineup of multicultural food vendors.

The day begins with the annual Family Fun Dash. Originally started in 2013 with only a dozen kids, it has now become a popular family fitness tradition with up to three hundred children and their parents dashing with them. A fundraiser for charity, this annual fun dash promotes physical fitness and active families, welcoming both strollers and wheelchairs (no bikes, blades or scooters). The 2024 Family Fun Dash will be held at 9:30am.

After the Family Fun Dash, it’s time for the fan-favourite street parade! The Hats Off Day parade has been a Burnaby Heights tradition since 1989. The parade features local community groups of all kinds, preschools and local high school marching bands, Burnaby Heights businesses, and regional sponsors of Hats Off Day.
Car enthusiasts will not want to miss the Show and Shine car display. With over 100 stunning cars on display, you’ll be transported to a world of automotive excellence and beauty.
