Light Up Chinatown! 2024
A 2-day block party is set to take out Chinatown this weekend.
The fourth annual Light Up Chinatown! festival is happening on August 24 and 25. The free, family-friendly event features live performances, a kids zone, limited-edition food collaborations, hawker street food, lights and colourful lanterns!

For this year’s event, 10 of Vancouver’s renowned chefs have come together to craft street food dishes straight out of Hawker Stalls! Visitors must pre-order ahead of time and tickets can be purchased here.
The chefs include:
- Roger Ma from Boulevard Kitchen
- Alain Chow from Bao Bei Brasserie
- Sharon Chan from Mama in the Kitchen
- Clay Yen from Juke Fried Chicken & Ribs
- Will Lew from Upcoming Restaurant
- Brandon Grossutti & Wesley Young from Pidgin
- Sean Heather fromThe Irish Heather
- William Liu from Kam Wai Dim Sum
- Kim Tran from DD Mau
- Mark Singson from Mabuhay
In addition to all the delicious food, the festival is fully licensed. The festival’s signature cocktail, created by Nathan Moran of Laowai, is described as a “highball style cocktail with rich vanilla flavours and a very salty punch up front”.
Over in the kids zone, younger attendees can take part in face painting, lantern making, lion dancing, and much more!
