Surrey Khalsa Day Vaisakhi Parade 2024
The largest Vaisakhi parade in the world is returning to Surrey this spring and is once again expected to draw massive crowds as the community comes out to celebrate this significant religious festival.
The Surrey Khalsa Day Vaisakhi Parade is taking place on Saturday, April 20th. Last year’s event drew an estimated 700,000 attendees after a 3-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are expecting significant crowds to gather to celebrate this important event in the Sikh calendar, and we look forward to welcoming people of all ages and ethnicities to celebrate along with us at this free, family-friendly event,” said Gurdeep Singh, President of Gurdwara Sahib Dasmesh Darbar ahead of last year’s event.
The parade will begin at approximately 9:30am at Gurdwara Sahib Dasmesh Darbar Temple, located at 12885-85 Avenue, and conclude at 4pm. The parade will travel along 124th Street and turn left onto 75th Avenue. From there it’ll continue on 76th Avenue and onto 128th Street before reaching the Temple. The parade will feature a variety of floats, community groups, live music and dancers.

Attendees will come across hundreds of booths sponsored by local businesses and families along the route handing out free food and treats. Last year’s parade featured over 2500 participants and 20 community organizations.
For Sikhs around the world, Vaisakhi is a religious celebration that marks the spring harvest and the birth of the Khalsa order by Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Guru of Sikhism. Parades are held around the world each year, including right here in Vancouver, to celebrate this holy festival.
