The Shipyards Skate Plaza 2024
North Vancouver’s massive free outdoor skating rink returns this November.
The Shipyards outdoor skate plaza, Metro Vancouver’s largest outdoor skating rink, opens for the winter season on Saturday, November 30.
Set against the beautiful backdrop of downtown Vancouver and the North Shore mountains, the 12,000 sq. ft. ice rink offers free skates, as well as free helmets and skate aides.
The ice rink will remain open daily from 12pm to 8pm until March 2025.

Skating is free for all ages as long as you bring your own skates. If you don’t have your own skates, you can rent a pair for a small fee ($7 for adults, $5 for kids).
Skate rentals close at 7:30pm daily. Helmets are mandatory for everyone 12-years-old and under.
Figure skating and ice hockey are not permitted at the rink at anytime.
This isn’t the only ice skating rink in Metro Vancouver opening this month. On November 29th, the Robson Square Ice Rink welcomes skaters for another season.
