Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival 2025

The Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival, one of the city’s most beloved spring festivals, has returned for another iconic season.

Taking place from March 26 to April 28, the festival is an opportunity for people to appreciate and discover the roughly 43,000 cherry blossom trees across the city.

In addition to the trees, the festival puts on accessible public performances and exhibitions, creating a sense of community through art.

One of the highlights of this year’s festival is the popular Blossoms After Dark event happening from March 28-30, which is a magical evening experience under the illuminated cherry blossoms.

On March 29, The Big Picnic takes place at David Lam Park. This event honours the Honourable Dr. David Lam’s donation of cherry trees and celebrates friendship. Huge crowds will gather for “Hanami” which means flower viewing, and everyone is welcome to picnic, play and celebrate!

As the festival moves along, the Sakura Days Japan Fair is happening on April 12 and 13 at VanDusen Botanical Garden. The fair attracts huge crowds each year, and will once again have music and dance performances, food offerings, sake tasting and more!
