Winter Solstice Lantern Festival 2023
This December, come out and celebrate the darkest night of the year with a lantern festival in Vancouver. The 30th annual Winter Solstice Lantern Festival is being held on Thursday, December 21st.
The winter solstice is the day with the shortest period of daylight and longest night of the year.
Like previous years, this year’s event will have three separate lantern processions that converge in the Water Park: Leg-in-Boot Square (6pm), H.R. MacMillan Space Centre (6pm) and Triangle Square (6:20pm).

On Granville Island and in Yaletown, the winter solstice labyrinth invites you to warm yourself in a self-guided ceremony with over 500 pure beeswax candles. If you want to learn how to make your own lantern, a number of pre-festival workshops are being held on December 9th. To register, please select one of the workshops online or call 604-257-8195.
To ensure a space in the labyrinth, it is highly recommended to purchase your tickets online ahead of time.
