On Saturday night, a railing collapsed at Rogers Arena during UFC 289 just as Canadian UFC fighter Mike Malott was making his way to the ring from the tunnel.
Fans standing near the railing fell to the ground as the railing completely collapsed. Videos show the falling fans just miss Malott who could have been seriously injured.

Dana White spoke about the incident after the event and said no one was seriously injured.
“No one was seriously injured, a couple minor injuries. The arena handled it immediately yenno roped it off got security up there, moved people to better seats and handled it like a bunch of pros,” said the UFC President.
Rogers Arena released a statement of their own after the incident.
“The safety of our fans is our #1 priority at Rogers Arena,” reads their statement.
“At tonight’s UFC event, as fans leaned over to greet the fighters a railing fell down. Our arena staff worked quickly to relocate fans in the affected area and no serious injuries were reported. Venue security and staff remained on-site throughout the rest of the evening to ensure everyone’s safety.”
All in all, UFC 289 was a massive success for Vancouver. The event had a sold out attendance of 17,628 and made over $5 million in gate revenue.
