A female pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Burnaby Thursday morning.
Burnaby RCMP frontline officers say the pedestrian was struck in the 4300-block of Hastings Street at approximately 11am.
The accident forced Hastings Street to close in both directions between Madison Avenue and Rosser Avenue.

“We are still working to determine the circumstances of this incident, which has tragically claimed a life. Hastings Street will be closed in the area for quite some time, most likely into the evening hours,” said Corporal Mike Kalanj with Burnaby RCMP.
Investigators have “identified the vehicle” and are following up with information provided by witnesses to “determine the circumstances which lead up to the incident”.
Burnaby RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team is now leading the investigation.
