Fog advisory remains in place for Metro Vancouver

Heavy fog continues to blanket Metro Vancouver.

Environment Canada has extended their fog advisory for the region until at least Wednesday afternoon. Areas impacted by the advisory include Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Richmond, Delta, White Rock, Surrey, Langley, Coquitlam and Maple Ridge.

“A ridge of high pressure over B.C. is trapping moisture near the surface creating areas of dense fog across Metro Vancouver, and especially near the Strait of Georgia, Burrard Inlet, Boundary Bay and the Fraser River,” says Environment Canada.

“Near zero visibility in fog continues over some areas.”

The weather agency says that while visibility may improve in the afternoons, fog is “expected to redevelop each night”.

Travellers are also being warned about delays at YVR Airport.

The fog is expected to clear out from the region by the middle of the week.
