It’s not just the temperatures outside that are heating up – culinary teams across the city are turning up the heat with an array of foodie adventures.

From vibrant night markets to seasonal menus celebrating the best of BC’s bounty, here are 13 food events happening in Vancouver this May.

About: The popular night market was founded in 2000, and attracts over a million visitors a year with its delicious lineup of international cuisine, entertainment, and more! This year’s theme is “Little Wonder World,” and attendees can make their way through more than 500 food options.

With the FIFA World Cup coming to town, this year’s market will even feature a massive soccer display.

Sunday Shucking Pop-Ups

About: Copperpenny Distilling Co. will welcome tide-to-table destination Fanny Bay Oyster Bar and Shellfish Market to host a new series of Sunday Shucking Pop-Ups. Happening on March 22nd, April 12th, May 10th (Mother’s Day) and May 31st, the events will help bring together oyster aficionados and cocktail enthusiasts alike.

At each event, Fanny Bay master shucker Hannah Nguyen will serve up premium oyster varieties and seasonally inspired Shucker’s Choice selections for $21 a half dozen or $39 a dozen. As for drinks, the Copperpenny bar team will offer a curated menu of gin-based libations created especially for the occasion.

Loam Bistro’s “2.0” menu

About: Celebrate May with Loam Bistro’s refreshed “2.0” menu that reimagines some of the restaurant’s most-loved dishes. Updated highlights include Beets & Eggs and a Mushroom & Beef Risotto, both reworked with a renewed focus on seasonality and depth of flavour. The menu also introduces two new bowl-forward features: the Saffron Sun Bowl with cumin rice and tomato-braised meatballs, and a Quinoa Bowl with pomegranate, poached eggs, and avocado.

About: A neighbourhood favourite since 2022, Claudio is offering a refreshed spring and summer menu that highlights seasonal, regionally inspired Italian cuisine with a contemporary touch. We’re talking about fresh antipasti, handmade pastas, pizze, and classic dolci, all rooted in the traditions of the Italian peninsula.

Over on the beverage side, they are offering a collection of new signature cocktails, an extensive list of Italian wines, zero-proof options, and a Spritz Bar.

About: Kobe Japanese Steakhouse is extending  its 58th anniversary menu through the month of May! Available Mondays through Thursdays from 5pm to 11pm, the menu showcases the dishes that have made it a favourite of locals and visitors alike since it opened its doors in 1968. Start with Shabu Shabu soup, fresh seasonal vegetables, and teppan shrimp served with steamed rice, followed by flame-kissed tiger prawns, sirloin steak, and teriyaki chicken, and finish with a choice of Mario’s Gelati for dessert.

The Altitude tasting menu at Five Sails

About: Chef Alex Kim’s spring tasting menu takes guests on a seasonal journey through British Columbia’s coastlines, valleys, and mountains. Priced at $195 per person.  the menu moves from bright, coastal dishes like oysters with yuzu and seaweed with Pacific shrimp, through refined seafood courses such as scallop mandu and halibut with shio koji broth, into richer inland flavours including Fraser Valley chicken, beef cheeks, and spring lamb. The meal is completed with a light, floral dessert of wild berries and spruce tip.

Cuisine Bourgeoise at St. Lawrence

About: Chef JC Poirier’s current seasonal menu is a refined expression of cuisine bourgeoise. Priced at $110 per person, the menu features dishes built around standout seasonal elements such as Hiramasa, Arctic char, Atlantic lobster, Iberico pork, and vegetables from local farms including Cropthorne and North Arm. Each menu item was made with an emphasis on balance, depth, and beautifully executed sauces that anchor each dish.

Spring Tasting Menu at Desi Indian Lounge

About: Executive Chef Bal Ajagaonkar’s new spring menu highlights seasonal BC ingredients through a modern, refined take on regional Indian cuisine. Priced at $75 per person, the five-course menu includes dishes like asparagus shorba, tandoori Brussels sprouts, tamarind-glazed sablefish, Cornish hen with butternut squash butter sauce, and a golden beet & paan mousse.

Prime Rib Tuesdays at Glowbal Restaurant

About: Glowbal’s new Prime Rib Tuesdays bring a classic steakhouse ritual to life right at your table. Guests can choose from 10oz, 12oz, or 16oz cuts of Chef’s Prime Rib, carved and served tableside with roasted vegetables, Yorkshire pudding, horseradish cream, and a rich Merlot jus.

Regional menu at Italian Kitchen

About: Taking inspiration from Trentino–South Tyrol in northern Italy, Italian Kitchen invites guests to taste dishes such as Cajinci ricotta & beetroot ravioli with gorgonzola cream and burnt honey, tagliolini with porcini and speck finished with spruce tips and Vezzenna, and a grilled venison striploin served with parsnip purée, braised cabbage, and morel mushroom jus. Each dish is paired with a curated selection of northern Italian wines.
