Less than a week ago, two GoFundMe pages were set up to support the family of 17-year-old Ethan Bespflug, who died after being stabbed on board a Surrey bus.
The stabbing happened shortly after 9:00 pm in the 9900-block of King George Boulevard in Surrey. Surrey RCMP responded to a report of an assault with a weapon on a bus. The 17-year-old teen was transported to hospital and later succumbed to his fatal injuries.
Yesterday, police announced a 20-year-old Burnaby man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Ethan Bespflug. Kaiden Brady Robert Mintenko is charged with second-degree murder.

To date, over $47k has been raised for Ethan’s family. Daphni Miller, who is Ethan’s aunt, set up one of the GoFundMe pages.
“April 11th my nephew Ethan was targeted on a bus ride home where he lost his life,” reads the GoFundMe page.
“Ethan just turned 17 years old he had so much life ahead of him, a good kid, a kind kid a loving brother, son, grandson, uncle, friend, he always helped with his siblings always told his family how much he loves us, he would give the shirt off his back to anyone that needed it.”
The other fundraising page was set up by Andrea Van Der Gracht and it says that funds raised from both campaigns will go directly to the family.
“Ethan was a son and a brother who was senselessly murdered when he was supposed to be safe. Our fears of sending our children out into the world are becoming more and more prevalent in our daily lives. We are not supposed to fear our children going to school, we are not supposed to fear our children going home from school.”
“Please donate to help lay Ethan to rest.”
