A GoFundMe page has been set up for a 46-year-old mom who was fatally stabbed in New Westminster this past Friday.
On October 13th just after 5pm, the New Westminster Police Department responded to a “call to service” in 200-block of Suzuki Street in New Westminster. When police arrived, they found a 46-year old woman suffering from life-threatening injuries.
“Sadly, despite life-saving efforts by the responding officers with support from the BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS), the victim succumbed to her injuries on scene,” said Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT.
IHIT is now identifying the victim as 46-year old Kulwant Kaur of New Westminster, a mother to one boy.

“Kulwant Kaur came to Canada in 2019 to give her son a better life and brighter future. On October 13th, she was taken from us in a domestic dispute,” reads the GoFundMe page.
“Kulwant passed away leaving behind her son. She was an amazing mother and a loving daughter.”
“She was a hardworking, kind, caring person and was looking to make a better life for her and her son.”
57-year old Balvir Singh of New Westminster has been charged with second-degree murder in connection to Kaur’s death.
“This appears to be an isolated incident between family members,” says Sgt. Timothy Pierotti, of IHIT. “IHIT will continue to be in the area speaking to witnesses and processing the scene throughout the day. If you have information and have yet to speak with police, please contact IHIT immediately.”
Money raised will be given to her family to cover funeral costs and help support her son.
“The money will be given to Kulwant’s family which consist of her parents who will be arriving from India and her nephew who just arrived to Canada a week ago.”
