A GoFundMe page has been set up to support the surviving victim of a fatal Surrey bus stop collision that occurred earlier this month.
Around 4:30pm on October 5, police responded to a report of a fatal motor vehicle collision near 144 Street and Hyland Drive. A Ford F350 was travelling northbound on 144 Street when it crossed into oncoming traffic.
The vehicle proceeded to collide with a bus stop bench, injuring two pedestrians and causing damage to the surrounding property.
One man was declared dead at the scene and another pedestrian was transported to hospital with serious injuries. Dalbeer, the victim who survived, “suffered critical injuries to his legs and a concussion and is now facing a long and challenging recovery”.
“Dalbeer is new to Canada and has his family back in India, leaving him without anyone to care for him here. His life has turned upside down due to this accident, which has not only taken a toll on his health but also created financial burdens from medical bills and lost wages,” reads the fundraiser.
A 44-year-old man was arrested on scene and is being charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death and impaired operation of a conveyance causing death.
The fundraiser is looking to raise $100,000 to help cover Dalbeer’s medical expenses, rehabilitation, and essential living costs as he begins to heal.
