A beloved restaurant in Vancouver has sadly closed its doors after 27 years.
Green Lettuce on Kingsway marked its final day in business on Sunday, June 28.
“To our Vancouver community, thank you for the last 27 years! Our Vancouver location is now closed, and please continue visiting us at our Surrey location,” wrote the restaurant on its website.
Located at 1949 Kingsway, Green Lettuce was opened by Peter and his wife, Lucy, who were born in Kolkata, India, and brought a unique blend of Indo-Chinese cuisine to Vancouver’s culinary scene.
“The late food critic James Barber visited the restaurant on several occasions and shortly after his articles that raved about the chilli dumplings and green beans, Green Lettuce became an instant hit in Vancouver! Various Bollywood actors enjoy the food including Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai who have visited us,” adds their website.
Customers shared heartfelt messages after learning the restaurant was closing.
“This has been a regular for our family for the last 25 years! Sad to see the era end; Lucy and Peter are amazing and wishing them all the luck!,” wrote one user.
“The best hakka Chinese spot in Vancouver, we’ve been regulars here forever. Thank you Peter and Lucy for all the great memories and delicious food,” added another longtime customer.
Customers can still visit Green Lettuce at its Surrey location, located at 6350 120 St.
