A group filming a music video in New Westminster prompted a heavy police response early last week.
A New Westminster Police Department officer was conducting proactive patrols on Monday, October 20th around 4pm when a group of men was seen on the second level of the Front Street parkade.
It appeared that one of the men was “in possession of a handgun,” police said.
“Officers quickly responded and safely arrested four individuals,” said the department in a release. “The incident resulted in a significant police presence in and around the parkade.”
After seizing the gun, police discovered it was a replica firearm.

“To film a music video with a replica firearm and no regard for film industry safety protocols is extremely reckless,” said Communications Officer Hailey Finnigan. “There was zero signage this was a film set.”
The department is also warning the public of the dangers of “imitation firearms”.
“When police respond to any call involving a firearm, it is treated as legitimate until an investigation can determine otherwise,’ adds their release. “For the safety of our communities, the New Westminster Police Department strongly discourages the purchase and use of these items.”
