The weather keeps on getting warmer and you might be wondering when the Grouse Grind is set to open for the 2023 season.

Metro Vancouver says they anticipate the popular hiking trail to open in “early June”.

“The Grouse Grind trail is currently closed due to hazardous conditions caused by snow and ice,” said Niki Reitmayer of Metro Vancouver.

“We ask the public to please stay off the trail for their safety, as well as the safety of park staff and first responders.”

While it’s anticipated that the Grouse Grind will open in early June, it’ll ultimately come down to what the weather conditions look like.

In the meantime, outdoor enthusiasts can tackle the Baden-Powell Trail.

“Please note that trail maintenance and upgrades will start on a portion of the BCMC Route on May 10. The trail will be closed Monday to Friday and open on weekends. Work is expected to last until June 30.”

On weekdays, visitors can use a detour along Baden-Powell Trail and Larsen Trail to connect with the open section of the BCMC Route near marker 29/50.
