Gunfire broke out in a busy area of downtown Vancouver Friday evening.
According to several social media posts, shots were fired in a parking lot near an alley behind Granville Street around 6pm tonight.

The Vancouver Police Department confirmed the incident in an email to Anywhere Vancouver.
“One person fired shots into an open parking lot near Granville and Helmcken. Officers observed this and took the man into custody,” said Cst. Tania Visintin.
“There were no injuries and firearm related charges will be recommended.”
A heavy police presence can be seen in the area as the parking lot and surrounding areas are now behind tape.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and there is no public safety risk.
