Gunfire erupted on a busy downtown Vancouver street Saturday afternoon.
The Vancouver Police Department received multiple calls from witnesses around 5:40pm after shots were fired near Richards and Robson streets.
“Evidence indicates the shooting was targeted, but at this time there are no known injuries and no arrests have been made,” said Sgt. Steve Addison in a release.
“Additional VPD officers have been deployed to the downtown core, and investigators will work throughout the night to collect evidence from the crime scene,” added Addison.
People in the area who heard the gunfire erupt quickly ran for cover.
“I was at Japadog on Robson when it happened. Heard at least 6 shots and saw people running towards Richards street,” commented one person on Reddit.
Another person said they were at Rainbow Park with their kids when gunshots were heard.
“The whole park cleared out and ran south. Ran past a couple of officers who had guns drawn. Pretty scary.” said the witness on Reddit.
Witnesses say they saw a black SUV that was shot at collide with a white SUV that was on the road.
A separate witness said they were coming out of the HomeSense when the shooting happened in the alley beside the building.
“I was there, just came out of HomeSense. Heard shots then saw a car crash and fell on my knees trying to run away for our lives,” said the witness.
