Human remains discovered in Richmond have now been identified as those of a missing 28-year-old woman from Surrey who was last seen in February.
Police received a report of possible human remains “located in the water where Williams Road meets the Fraser River” at 12:15pm on Tuesday, July 23rd.
“Upon police attendance, human remains were located. Richmond RCMP worked closely with BC Coroners Service to identify the remains and determine circumstances that led to their death,” says Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi of IHIT.
In order to further the investigation, IHIT now identifying the human remains found as those of 28-year-old Navdeep Kaur.
Navdeep Kaur was last seen on February 22, 2024 at 10:30pm in the 7800 block of 123 Street. She was reported missing the following day.
At the time, IHIT said evidence was collected that led investigators to believe that Ms. Kaur “may be a victim of foul play”.
“This is a tragic event and investigators continue to work on this very active investigation. We are releasing an update with the hope that someone who knows something about Ms. Kaur’s disappearance and homicide may come forward.” says Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi of IHIT. “We’re asking anyone who has any information, to please call IHIT immediately.”
