After the season’s first snowfall over the weekend, motorists travelling along a major BC highway are experiencing dangerous driving conditions.
The BC Highway Patrol says that “icy, treacherous conditions” are leading to intermittent shutdowns in both directions on Highway 1 through Langley and the Fraser Valley.
“The first reports came from the area between 216th and 264th, but the icy conditions could affect anywhere along Highway #1 from Whistler to Hope,” said Cpl. Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol.

“Drivers should not use Highway #1 unless necessary, they leave extra travel time, and their vehicles are fully prepared for winter conditions,” added Cpl. McLaughlin.
Snow continues to fall across the region, and with frigid temperatures in store for the next few days, residents are being warned that outdoor surfaces will be slippery.
