Impaired driver pulled over for driving on the wrong side of the road in Port Coquitlam

A vehicle was caught driving on the wrong side of the road in Port Coquitlam Wednesday night.

Coquitlam RCMP say they pulled over the car on Shaughnessy Streeet before Lougheed Highway in Port Coquitlam. After pulling over the vehicle, police discovered that the driver was driving impaired.

The vehicle was impounded for 30 days and the driver received a 90-day immediate roadside suspension.

Penalties for impaired driving in BC can include:

  • Driving suspensions from 24 hours to 90 days
  • Vehicle impoundment
  • Fines, from $600 and up to $4,060
  • Jail time
  • Mandatory rehabilitation
  • Installation of ignition interlock in your vehicle
