Loose bear roaming through the streets of New Westminster captured by police (PHOTOS)

After 3+ hours, a “loose bear” has finally been captured by police in New Westminster.

At 12:15pm, the New Westminster Police Department tweeted out that there was a bear on the loose on the west side of New Westminster.

Two hours later, police updated the public saying that the “bear has been seen in the area of 15th St/Naniamo St”.

Just after 3pm, police issued an update that the bear had been safely captured. Photos show the bear tranquilized and being carried away by police.

“Yay. It’s captured safely and will be relocated to a safer place,’ said one social media user.

“Thank you for doing this safely. Way way too many bears are killed needlessly in this province and it’s abhorrent. Thank you for saving his/her life,” tweeted another user.
