Canadian low-cost carrier Lynx Air announced Thursday that they are ceasing all operations next week due to “compounding financial pressures”.
Lynx Air will cease all flight operations on Monday, February 26th at 12:01am.
“Tremendous work was put into the growth and expansion of Lynx Air over the past two years, offering Canadians a low-cost, seamless travel experience for Canadians,” reads a statement on their website.
“However, the compounding financial pressures associated with inflation, fuel costs, exchange rates, cost of capital, regulatory costs and competitive tension in the Canadian market have ultimately proven too steep a mountain for our organization to overcome.”
Lynx has published a FAQ page on their website to help customers understand what this decision means for them. If you’ve booked to fly with Lynx up to Sunday, February 25th, the airline says they will “continue to operate the majority of our flights through this weekend”.
Customers who have booked a flight past February 26th will receive a fund.
“If your flight is for travel from Monday, February 26 onward, you can contact your credit card company and they will refund your flight.”
