A man has been arrested following an attempted robbery of an elderly person in North Vancouver.
Police responded to reports of an attempted robbery in Victoria Park on January 24 after an elderly person met someone from Facebook Marketplace to sell their phone.
The suspect “pepper sprayed the victim’ and attempted to take their phone. The suspect fled the scene without the phone.
On May 3rd, police executed a search warrant at a residence in Vancouver and arrested a suspect believed to be responsible for the attempted robbery. The suspect has since been released with a court appearance scheduled for July 10th, 2024.

“This was a traumatic incident for the victim,” said Cst. Mansoor Sahak of the North Vancouver RCMP. “Investigators worked diligently to gather evidence through conventional and non-conventional means in effort to bring the investigation to the stage its at today.”
Anyone making an in-person transaction via Facebook Marketplace or other online services is encouraged to do so at a safe zone outside the detachment. The North Vancouver RCMP detachment is located at 147 E 14th Street.
