A 46-year-old man has been arrested by police following after a violent stabbing incident in downtown Vancouver Wednesday morning.
VPD officers responded to Smithe and Beatty streets just before noon after receiving a 911 call about a person who has been stabbed. The caller also told police that a “man was chasing people with a knife”.
“The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, where he was treated and has since been released,” said Cst. Tania Visintin in a release.
Officers arrested a 46-year-old suspect nearby.

The Vancouver Police Department had said earlier in the morning that a “serious assault” had closed the 800 block of Cambie Street to vehicle traffic in both directions.
