A man is dead following a “targeted” shooting at the Northgate Village shopping plaza in Burnaby Saturday afternoon.
Burnaby RCMP officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of North Road and Cameron Street just after 5pm. When police arrived, they located a man deceased in a parkade.
About 15 minutes later, police responded to a report of a vehicle on fire in the area of Bainbridge Avenue and Greenwood Street.

“Police have secured both scenes and will remain in these areas as the investigation continues,” said Cpl. Michael Kalanj in a press release.
“At this time, investigators believe the shooting was targeted and there are no further risks to the public.”
IHIT has been called in and are currently on scene.
Anyone with dash cam footage in the Lougheed Mall and surrounding areas between 4:30pm and 5:30pm are asked to contact IHIT at at 1-877-557-IHIT (4448) or email ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
Investigators are also looking to collect dash cam footage from anyone who was in the area of Bainbridge Avenue and Greenwood Street between 5pm and 5:30pm.
