Man “threatening to stab people with a needle” arrested at New Westminster SkyTrain Station

A 41-year-old man has been charged with robbery after he threatened to “stab people with a needle” at a local New Westminster grocery store.

At around 2pm on Sunday, November 19th, police in New Westminster responded to a local grocery store after staff called 911.

Staff say a man was seen “stealing merchandise from the store before threatening to stab people with a needle”. Police located someone matching the suspect’s description at Sapperton SkyTrain Station.

41 year old Shane Murray Stanway of Langley has been charged with one count of robbery.

“These employees were just trying to do their job,” stated Sergeant Justine Thom.

“It’s appalling that staff were subjected to this type of abuse and it’s extremely fortunate that no one was seriously injured. Excellent work done by our patrol officers who were at the scene within minutes.”
