On Saturday, police arrested three men after they threatened members of the public with knives on the popular White Rock Pier.
At 7:30pm, police “received 911 calls reporting a dangerous situation involving a group of males” who were “brandishing knives and making threats towards the public with knives”.
Officers were on foot nearby and chased the suspects along the promenade. All three suspects were arrested and their knives were seized.

“This dangerous situation could have had a very different outcome, fortunately due to calls from the public and quick response by officers, no one was injured in this incident. Having officers on foot on the promenade when this occurred helped in the quick identification and arrest of these suspects,” said White Rock RCMP officer, Constable Chantal Sears.
Police say two youth males and one adult man, who is known to police, were arrested. All three suspects have been released with conditions.
“Throughout the summer months we will regularly have a visible police presence on foot and bicycles to support our regular patrols,” added Constable Chantal Sears.
Police have spoken to witnesses and are asking anyone else who hasn’t spoken to authorities yet to contact the White Rock RCMP at 778-545-4800 and quote file number 2023-4053. Police are also collecting CCTV or dashcam footage.
