A missing Squamish hiker has been found alive five days after he was last seen at the summit of the Sea to Sky Gondola.
On August 30th, 43-year-old Stanislav Volo set out to hike from the Sea to Sky Gondola summit to the Habrich Climber’s Access Trail but did not return.
On Friday, Squamish Search and Rescue confirmed he had been found alive and was safe.
“Stanislav walked himself out and was located on the Indian Arm FSR,” reads their post on Facebook.
“We know so many people across Squamish, the Sea to Sky, and beyond have been following his story, sharing our posts, sending messages, and hoping alongside his family.”

Squamish RCMP said Volo was transported to hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries.
“The Squamish RCMP is incredibly grateful for the assistance provided by our partners during the search, including the RCMP Integrated Police Dog Services, Search and Rescue teams led by Squamish Search and Rescue, RCMP Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team, RCMP Air Services and the Sea to Sky Gondola team,” added the department.
Volo’s sister shared a post on social media describing what the experience was like for her and their family.
“These have been the longest six days of our lives. We held onto hope every second, and somehow, he is coming back to us,” reads her post.
