Family and friends of missing Vancouver man holding search party Tuesday afternoon

Family and friends of missing Vancouver man Suleiman Khawar are holding a search party Tuesday afternoon.

Suleiman Khawar was last seen Thursday, May 25th while at Mansion Night Club near West Georgia and Thurlow in downtown Vancouver.

“Our dear son, brother, and friend Suleiman Khawar, has been missing since May 25th Thursday evening,” reads a Facebook event page set up for the search party.

“We are urging the public to come together on Tuesday, May 30th on an in-person search to help look for Suleiman as every hour, and every minute counts. Friends and family have been searching all weekend, and we are on the 5th day since he’s been missing.”

The group will do a thorough search of the South Granville, Burrard Street and W Georgia Street, Granville Street, Pacific Boulevard, False Creek areas. Surrounding parks in Chinatown, Yaletown, Science World, East Broadway, and near East 1st Avenue will be searched as well.

The search party will meet at Science World at 5:30pm by the James Till and Ernest McCulloch statue. The group will begin the search party at 6pm.

The mother of Suleiman issued a plea to the public to help find her son.

“People always ask me ‘What can I do for you today?’ Today, I am asking that everyone please all come together and help me find my son,” says Wazhma in a Facebook post.

Suleiman is described as South Asian, 6 feet tall, and has a slim build. He has short black hair and a black beard with a mustache.

He was last seen wearing a blue button-down shirt over a white t-shirt, black jeans and black shoes with white soles.
