A brand new Mexican restaurant has opened up in downtown Vancouver.

Barra Gitano, located at 1202 Davie Street, serves up delicious Mexican-inspired cuisine and delicious drinks that’ll keep you coming back for more.

Barra Gitano is situated in the heart of Vancouver’s vibrant and eclectic Davie Village neighbourhood at the corner of Bute and Davie, which was the former Mary’s on Davie. The restaurant has been brought to life by the same team behind The Flying Pig, Ophelia Cocina Mexicana, and and Monarca.

“Erik and I both used to live around here and have long wanted to open a little neighbourhood spot in this beautiful little corner of the city, so it’s a bit of a homecoming,” says John Crook. “Francisco has put together another amazing menu of bold, vibrant flavours that offers a bit of a departure from Ophelia and Monarca yet still stays true to his culinary roots and the time-honoured recipes that continue to inspire him.”

To begin, the restaurant is open daily at 4pm from Wednesdays to Sundays for dinner and late-night drinks. A weekend brunch service is expected to debut soon as well. The restaurant has seating for 100 people inside its cozy and inviting dining room, and outdoor patio.

Barra Gitano offers a unique menu of Mexican and Latin American-inspired small plates, entrées and tacos. They also boast a full bar showcasing handcrafted cocktails, artisanal spirits, craft beer and wine.
